My Akhu,
Though your names are largely unknown to me, your presence is undeniable. Through all of my struggles, triumphs, blessings, and pitfalls, you have been watching from the sidelines of the Unseen, providing thankless assistance and knowledge that I then believed was sourceless. I have always wondered about you - about these nameless presences that have stood by my side since childhood, always with a hand on my shoulder and a smile for my weariest days. I often ask myself, without knowing who you are, do I make you proud? As I make my way from one sunset to the next, do my actions fill you with joy? Can you say that I do you well? How can I connect with you all in a more meaningful way, that will be truly reflective of all you have done for me this far without recognition?
These days, I have come so far from where I began. Though my path forward is as obscured as it ever was, I have become more comfortable with the leaps of faith you’ve helped to guide me through, and I grow more excited for my future with every passing day.
I regret not dedicating more of the time and attention of my past to honoring you all, but these days I know well enough that everything happens exactly as it is meant to. Moving forward - and make no mistake, that is exactly what I intend to do - we will grow closer as the family we never had the opportunity to be. All of the powerful men and women that have taught me important lessons without my knowledge are invited and welcome to come and go through my life as you please, and you will always be greeted with the same warmth and kindness you’ve given me, as well as the thanks that you rightfully deserve.
My Akhu, I love you as I love my living, breathing flesh and blood. Time and time again, we have fought side by side and emerged victorious together. Time and time again, I was blinded to your presences and interventions. No longer will you go unacknowledged, and no longer will your wisdom fall on deft ears. Together, we are powerful. Together, we are more than whole.
For the first time, I welcome you into my life with open arms and the conscious knowledge of your presence. I hope that we will continue to celebrate together, and that all of the wisdom you have carried will be passed onto me in due time. Thank you for all that you’ve done - thank you for all that you will do.
