Hello Everybody!
My name is Ethan, and I am a former southern Baptist turned Kemetic practitioner from lower Alabama. I felt called to join Kemeticism back in 2022 after years of service to the church. The main deities that I worship are Set and Ra, though I also venerate Djehuty as well as Aset. It is my goal to promote the ideals of Ma’at to all who encounter me, as well as to give help to anyone who asks of me.
To get personal, the reason I mainly worship Ra and Set stems from two separate experiences that I had at different points in my life. Before I was even cognizant, I was spared death, being blessed by (who I believe firmly) was my Lord, Set. I was very ill as an infant, born with severe hemophilia and suffering from a brain bleed without anybody knowing my condition until after all was said and done. My family and all their friends gathered together to pray at the hospital, at which point they all recounted an experience where a voice (which they believe to be Yahweh) had told them “He’s going to be okay.” I underwent emergency surgery and had a blood clot the size of a golf ball successfully removed without any clotting factor in my system. My Lord Set is a mighty warrior, one who preservers and cannot be defeated, I believe the voice they heard that day was indeed him and not the god of Abraham.
I’ve further had my suspicions proved to me since then, I’ve had multiple surgeries with next to no bleeding (rare for a severe hemophiliac, even with factor) and consider them to be my battle scars.
As for my father Ra I have only encountered him once, but that one experience was so profound that I cannot give it less credit. One night shortly after I started worship of Ra I was visited by a demonic figure, for the first time since I was a Christian (I was not protected whatsoever) and suffered from physical attacks. As soon as I recognized what it was, I was barely able to utter Ra’s name, at which point the dark figure immediately left me.
I try to practice my faith as openly and outwardly as I can despite persecution from my family, worst of all coming from my mother who has actually gone as far as to call me demonically possessed. I look forward to getting to know everybody and grow closer to the gods, Dua Netjeru!
